Made with Purpose. Worn with Love.
How Meraki Movement Began
Meraki Movement was founded by Bill Nelson, a Canadian with a deep appreciation for artisan craft and a vision for something more meaningful than mass-produced textiles. Bill believed that the things we bring into our homes should be beautiful, intentional, and made to last — and he set out to build a brand that reflected exactly that.
It didn't take long for the business to become a true family affair. Bill's daughter, Amanda, and her mom joined him, each bringing their own passion and perspective to the brand. Together, the Nelson family has grown Meraki Movement into what it is today: a small, values-driven company that connects Canadian design with extraordinary Ecuadorian craftsmanship.
The word meraki is Greek for doing something with soul, creativity, and love — leaving a piece of yourself in your work.
That spirit lives in every piece we make, and in the family behind it.
Designed in Canada. Handmade in Ecuador.
Every Meraki Movement piece is designed here in Canada and brought to life by skilled artisan weavers in Ecuador. These aren't factory floors — they're family workshops where techniques are passed down through generations, and where every throw, scarf, and blanket is made by hand, one at a time.
We work directly with our Ecuadorian artisan partners, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and a relationship built on mutual respect. When you bring a Meraki piece home, you're supporting real people and real craft.
Why Alpaca? Why This Blend?
We chose alpaca fiber for a reason. Naturally hypoallergenic, incredibly soft, and warmer than wool without the bulk, alpaca is one of the most luxurious natural fibers in the world — and one of the most sustainable. Alpacas have a gentle footprint: they graze without destroying pastureland and produce fiber that requires minimal processing.
Our signature blend — 60% alpaca / 40% recycled acrylic — gives you the warmth and softness of natural fiber with added durability and easy care. The recycled acrylic component diverts plastic waste from landfills, making each piece a small step toward a more circular economy. It's a blend we're proud of: better for you, better for the planet.
Crafted in Small Batches. Built to Last.
We don't do mass production. Every Meraki Movement piece is made in limited runs, which means more attention, more care, and more intention in every stitch. Our customers notice — with an average review rating of 4.95 out of 5 stars, the quality speaks for itself.
These are pieces made to be passed down, not thrown out. A Meraki blanket isn't just a purchase — it's an heirloom in the making.
Our Promise to You
We believe in transparency, craftsmanship, and connection — between maker and wearer, between Canada and Ecuador, between the things we own and the values we hold. Every Meraki Movement piece is a small act of choosing better.
Thank you for being part of this movement.
